ASBURY PARK, NJ.- On Wednesday, a 19-year-old Asbury Park, New Jersey, man was taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with a shooting incident that occurred early last month in Asbury Park, New Jersey.

According to Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago, Jahsaad Banks, 19, of Asbury Park, was formally charged with one count of first-degree Attempted Murder; second-degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon; and second-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose.

Banks Was Located And Taken Into Custody On Wednesday

Banks was located and taken into custody on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, in Asbury Park, New Jersey, by members of the U.S. Marshals New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force. Banks was processed on the charges and was remanded to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution, pending future court proceedings in Mounmouth County Superior Court in Freehold, New Jersey.

The charges stem from an investigation that began on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, when shortly before 7:00 a.m., members of the Asbury Park Police Department responded to reports of gunfire on the 1100 Block of Atlantic Avenue in the City.

Upon arrival, Responding Police Officers and Detectives located five 9mm shell casings in the area but were unable to locate a victim. After contacting area hospitals, Detectives determined that no one was injured in the shooting.

A subsequent investigation led by Detectives of the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Bureau and the Asbury Park Police Department were quickly able to identify Banks as the shooter, and the charges were filed against him.
