Mexican Man Sentenced For Fifth Illegal Reentry Into The United States

PITTSBURGH, PA.- A 34-year-old Mexican national who thought he was going to get time served thought wrong after he pleaded guilty on Monday and was sentenced to an additional two months in federal prison for his fifth illegal reentry into the United States.
On Monday, April 28, 2025, Juan Antonio Lopez-Mauricio, 34, a Mexican national illegally residing in the Western District of Pennsylvania, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania and pleaded guilty before U.S. District Court Judge W. Scott Hardy to Illegal Reentry into the United States by a Previously Deported Alien.
Following entering his guilty plea, Judge Hardy immediately sentenced Lopez-Mauricio to an additional 60 days in federal prison. Lopez-Mauricio, who has remained in custody since his arrest on January 30, 2025, will face immediate deportation proceedings upon completion of his federal prison term.

According to Acting U.S. Attorney Troy Rivetti and charging documents filed with the District Court, on January 30, 2025, U.S. Immigration officials encountered Lopez-Mauricio and determined he was illegally present in the United States. An immigration records check revealed that Lopez-Mauricio had been previously removed from the United States four times between 2012 and 2015, following convictions in Federal Court in the Southern District of Texas and the District of Arizona for illegally reentering the United States.
Lopez-Mauricio has been in federal custody since his January arrest and will be turned over to immigration officials upon his release from federal prison to be removed from the country.
