Two Fatally Gunned Down In Less Than 12 Hours In The Nation’s Capitol City

WASHINGTON, DC.- Gunfire erupted, leaving two dead, in less than twelve hours in two separate shootings across the Nation’s Capitol City, between Friday afternoon and early Saturday morning.
According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, on Friday, May 2, 2025, shortly before 1:00 p.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s Fifth District responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting a shooting on the 600 Block of 21st Street in Northeast, D.C.
Police Find Man Shot Dead In Apartment
Upon arrival, Police Officers found a man, identified as Steven Stewart, 61, of Northeast, D.C., inside an apartment unresponsive, having succumbed from multiple gunshot wounds. Mr. Stewart was pronounced deceased by DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services.
Again, just shortly before 12:30 a.m., on Saturday, May 3, 2025, members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s Seventh District responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting gunfire on the 500 Block of Newcomb Street in Southeast, D.C.
Police Find Maryland Man Shot Dead On Street
Upon arrival, Police Officers located a man, later identified as Alex Alexander, 31, of Gaithersburg, Maryland, on the ground, having succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services subsequently pronounced Mr. Aleander deceased at the scene.
Both investigations remain active and ongoing. No arrests have been made as Detectives continue the search for the gunmen in the shooting deaths of Mr. Stewart and Mr. Alexander.
