Police Charge Teen In Saturday Night Navy Yard Strongarm Robbery

WASHINGTON, DC.- On Saturday, a 14-year-old boy was taken into custody and charged in connection with a strongarm robbery that occurred on Saturday night in the Navy Yard neighborhood of Southeast, D.C., while additional suspects remain at large.

     According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, on Saturday, May 10, 2025, members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department responded to a report of a robbery in the area of New Jersey Avenue and M Street in Southeast, D.C.

Police Officers Find Tow Victims That Were Assaulted And Robbed

     Upon arrival, Police Officers located two separate victims who reported to Police Officers that while they were on New Jersey Avenue and M Street, they were separately approached by a group of suspects. The suspect then assaulted the victims forcibly, stole their money, and fled the area in an unknown direction.

     While on patrol in the immediate area and based on the descriptions provided by the victims, Police Officers quickly apprehended a 14-year-old Southeast, D.C., boy. Based on the Detectives’ follow-up investigation, the teen was formally charged with Robbery by Force. He was released to his legal guardian, pending future court proceedings in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia Family Law Division.

     The investigation remains active and ongoing as Detectives and Police Officers continue the search for the remaining suspects.
