PITTSBURGH, PA.- A 35-year-old Guatemalan national illegally residing in the Western District of Pennsylvania will transferred to immigration custody and is awaiting removal from the United States after pleading guilty on Friday and being immediately sentenced to time served for Illegal Reentry by a Previously Deported Alien.

According to Acting U.S. Attorney Troy Rivetti, on Friday, May 9, 2025, Juan Manuel Secaida, 35, a Guatemalan national illegally in the United States, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania and pleaded guilty before Chief U.S. District Court Judge Mark R. Hornak to Illegal Reentry into the United States by a Previously Deported Alien.

Following entering his guilty plea on Friday, Judge Hornak immediately sentenced Secaida to time served and ordered him to be returned to immigration custody. On April 1, 2025, Secaida was taken into custody by immigration officials after he was initially charged on Pennsylvania State criminal charges.

According To Charging Information Filed With The District Court

According to the charging information filed with the District Court, Secaida was arrested by members of the Coraopolis Police Department and criminally charged with harassment, stalking, and criminal trespass, all of which remain pending.

Following being taken into custody, immigration officials determined that Secaida was illegally present in the United States and, on April 1, 2025, arrested him and charged him with illegal reentry. Secaida was previously removed from the United States in January 2020 after pleading guilty in Maryland State Court to separate instances for driving under the influence of alcohol.

Sometime after being removed, Secaida entered the United States at an unknown date and location without permission or legal authorization.

Acting U.S. Attorney Rivetti commended the investigative work of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Removal Operations and the Coraopolis Police Department for the investigation, which led to the successful prosecution of Secaida.
