Charges And Guilty Pleas Stem From An Investigation
The charges and guilty pleas stem from an incident that began on Monday, July 3, 2023, when shortly before 10:30 p.m., members of the Asbury Police Department responded to reports of gunfire at the Asbury Park Gardens apartment complex located on Atlantic Avenue in Asbury Park.
Police Officers Find Three Men Shot
Upon arrival, Police Officers located three male shooting victims who had all sustained gunshot wounds. All three victims were immediately transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, where, despite life-saving efforts, Lativity Lyons, 21, of Asbury Park, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased a short time later. The other two men were treated for their injuries and released. A fourth victim, the intended target of the shooting, escaped injury.
During the ensuing investigation, Detectives of the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Bureau and the Asbury Park Police Department were able to identify both Ivery and Sally as the suspects and the individuals responsible for the shooting death of Mr. Lyons and injuring the other two men.
Ivery was initially charged as a juvenile, and upon a motion to the court, the charges were waived up to adult Superior Court proceedings.
