One Dead, Another Hospitalized In Tuesday’s Benning Road Shooting

WASHINGTON, DC.- The D.C. Metropolitan Police Department is actively investigating a shooting that claimed the life of a 21-year-old Southeast, D.C., man and left another man hospitalized that occurred Tuesday afternoon in Southeast, D.C.
According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, shortly after 5:10 p.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s Sixth District responded to 911 Emergency Calls reporting a shooting on the 4500 Block of Benning Road in Southeast, D.C.
Police Find One Man Dead, Another Injured
Upon arrival, Police Officers found two men, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. One of the men, identified as Jacquise Zanders, 21, of Southeast, D.C., succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The second man was immediately transported by D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services to a nearby hospital, where he was treated for non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.
The investigation remains active and ongoing. No arrests have been made as Detectives continue their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
