HARRISBURG, NJ.- On Wednesday, May 14, 2025, a Federal Grand Jury for the Middle District of Pennsylvania returned an indictment charging Robert Gene Hiler, 52, formerly of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and recently residing in Los Angeles, California, with one count of Failure to Register as a Sex Offender.
According to Acting U.S. Attorney John C. Gurganus and charging information unsealed in the indictment, it has been alleged that Hiler was required to register as a sex offender based on a prior conviction in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
The indictment further alleges that Hiler traveled in interstate commerce and then failed to register and update his registration as required by the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act.
If Convicted, Hiler Faces Up To 10 Years In Federal Prison
If convicted at trial, Hiler faces up to 10 years in federal prison, a term of supervised release, and a fine. When sentenced, upon a finding of guilt, a U.S. District Court Judge will determine the term of imprisonment based on the seriousness of the offense and Hiler’s prior criminal history.
