Bergen County Man Charged In Falsifying Records Scheme

EMERSON, NJ.- On Friday, following an investigation, a 45-year-old Emerson, New Jersey, man was taken into custody and charged in connection with allegedly forging and falsifying records.

     According to Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella, on January 27, 2025, Detectives of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Confidential Investigations Unit received information regarding the alleged forgery and falsification of records associated with the Emerson Fire Department.

Investigation Uncovers Falsified Tests

     An investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office uncovered that between January 7, 2025, and January 27, 2025, Richard A. Solimando, while a Senior Captain with the Borough of Emerson Fire Department, improperly conducted respirator fit tests for members of the Emerson Fire Department and fraudulently signed the documents for each of the reports.

     Accordingly, on Friday, May 16, 2025, Solimando was taken into custody at the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office in Paramus, New Jersey, and was formally charged with one count of third-degree Forgery; and one count of Falsifying or Tampering with Records.

     Solimando was processed on the charges and was released on a summons complaint pending his first appearance in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack, New Jersey.

“The rules of the court require us to include a statement that states: The charges outlined in this publication are merely accusations, and the defendant and or defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt.”
