WASHINGTON, DC.- A 48-year-old Northeast, D.C., man learned he would be in his seventies when he is released from prison after being sentenced yesterday to nearly two-and-a-half decades for fatally gunning down his wife in the parking lot of their home in October 2024.

According to U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro, on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, Wyatt Swan, 48, of Northeast, D.C., appeared in the Superior Court for the District of Columbia and was sentenced by Superior Court Judge Jason Park to 24 years in prison, to be followed by five years of supervised release for his previously entered guilty plea to second-degree Murder.

Swan previously appeared on January 24, 2025, and pleaded guilty before Judge Park to one count of second-degree Murder While Armed in connection with the shooting death of his wife, Teresa Francisco, 52, of Northeast, D.C.

According To Charging Documents Filed With The Court

According to the charging documents filed with the Superior Court, on October 1, 2024, just around 1:00 p.m., Swan shot and killed his wife, Teresa Francisco, 52, firing the first shot with a pistol inside their apartment located in an apartment complex on the 900 Block of Eastern Avenue in Northeast, D.C. When she ran from the apartment and hid in a work van that was parked in the complex’s parking lot, Swan pursued her and fired multiple shots into the van, killing her.

Swan was taken into custody the following day, October 2, 2024, in Prince George’s County, Maryland, and has remained in custody since that date.
