BOSTON, MA.- A 28-year-old Dalton, Georgia, woman will be spending the next decade in federal prison after she was sentenced last Wednesday for transporting over ten pounds of crystal methamphetamine inside a bag of dog food from Mexico into the District of Massachusetts.

On Wednesday, May 14, 2025, Brooke Logan Paniagua, 28, of Dalton, Georgia, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts and was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Richard G. Stearns to 120 months in federal prison, to be followed by four years of supervised release after pleading guilty to her role in a Drug Trafficking Organization.

Paniagua Previously Pleads Guilty To Charges

Paniagua previously appeared in Federal Court in Boston, Massachusetts, and pleaded guilty to Conspiracy to Distribute Methamphetamine; Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine; and Possession of a Firearm in Furtherance of a Drug Trafficking Offense.

According to U.S. Attorney Leah B. Foley and charging documents filed with the District Court, on September 25, 2022, a member of the drug trafficking organization informed a confidential informant that a female courier would be transporting twelve pounds of methamphetamine from Georgia to Massachusetts.

On September 27, 2022, Paniagua called the confidential informant to arrange the time and location to meet and complete the sale of the methamphetamine. At that time, Paniagua informed the confidential informant that the methamphetamine was hidden inside a 50-pound bag of dog food.

Later in the day, on September 27, 2022, Paniagua arrived at the agreed-upon location, notified the confidential informant that she had arrived, and was taken into custody. During a subsequent search of her person, investigators found a loaded .22-caliber Ruger handgun in her back pocket. A search of Paniagua’s vehicle resulted in the seizure of 12.3 pounds of 97% pure methamphetamine stashed in five plastic containers in a partially opened bag of dog food.
