Trenton Man Charged In The Stabbing Death Of Hamilton Man

TRENTON, NJ.- On Monday, May 19, 2025, following an investigation, a 26-year-old Trenton, New Jersey, man was taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with the alleged fatal stabbing of a 48-year-old Hamilton, New Jersey, man that occurred in the early evening of Wednesday, May 14, 2025, in Trenton, New Jersey.

     According to Mercer County Prosecutor Janetta D. Marbrey, Jahvel Hale, 26, of Trenton, New Jersey, was formally charged with first-degree Murder; third-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; and fourth-degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.

     Hale was taken into custody without incident on the New Jersey Transit River Line in Palmyra, New Jersey, by members of the New Jersey Transit Police Department. He was processed on the charges and remanded to the Mercer County Correctional Center, pending future court proceedings in Mercer County Superior Court in Trenton, New Jersey. The Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office has filed a motion with the court to detain Hale pending trial.

Charges Are The Result Of An Investigation

     The charges stem from an investigation that began on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, when shortly after 7:00 p.m., members of the Trenton Police Department responded to Capital Health Regional Medical Center in the City of Trenton after receiving a report of a stabbing.

     Upon arrival, Police Officers were informed by hospital staff that a man, identified as Jermaine Scott, 48, of Hamilton, New Jersey, had been dropped off by a white four-door sedan, suffering from a severe stab wound to his abdomen. Mr. Scott was immediately rushed into surgery, where, despite life-saving efforts, Mr. Scott succumbed to his injury and was pronounced a short time later.

     During an extensive investigation by the Mercer County Homicide Task Force and the Trenton Police Department. Following interviewing multiple witnesses and reviewing area video surveillance footage, Detectives were able to locate the area where the stabbing occurred and identified Hale as the assailant. Detectives determined that during an apparent verbal altercation between Hale and Scott, Hale pulled out a knife and stabbed Scott in the upper torso on the sidewalk within the 200 Boock of Tyler Street in the City of Trenton.

     The investigation remains active and ongoing.
