BUFFALO, NY.- A 44-year-old Buffalo, New York, convicted child predator is facing up to 20 years in federal prison after pleading guilty on Tuesday to a federal child pornography offense.

According to U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo, on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, Nicholas Mangione, 44, of Buffalo, New York, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of New York and pleaded guilty before U.S. District Court Judge Lawrence J. Vilardo to Possession of Child Pornography.

Following entering his guilty plea, Judge Vilardo accepted the plea and scheduled sentencing for September 30, 2025. At that time, Mangione, who has a prior 2013 felony conviction for possession of child pornography, will be facing a mandatory minimum of ten years and up to 20 years in federal prison and up to a lifetime of supervised release. When sentenced, a U.S. District Court Judge will determine the term of imprisonment based on the seriousness of the offense and Mangione’s prior criminal history.

According To The U.S. Attorney’s Office

According to the charging documents filed with the District Court, in April 2013, Mangione was convicted of possession of child pornography and sentenced to 48 months in prison. On August 15, 2024, Federal Investigators obtained and executed a court-authorized search warrant at Mangione’s Buffalo, New York, residence after it was discovered that he had uploaded a media file containing child pornography to the Snapchat server.

During the search, Investigators seized Mangione’s cellular phone. A subsequent examination of the cellular phone uncovered around 20 digital images and 52 video files depicting the sexual exploitation and abuse of young children. Investigators also uncovered that Mangione had distributed child pornography to other individuals utilizing the Telegram messaging application in exchange for other child pornographic media files.

On August 16, 2025, Mangione was arrested on New York State charges and was found again in possession of an additional cellular phone, which contained digital images and video files depicting the sexual exploitation and abuse of children, some including the sexual abuse of an infant and toddler and depictions of sexual violence against children by adults.
