Man Charged In Early Friday Morning In D.C. Chinatown Carjacking

WASHINGTON, DC.- On Friday, May 23, 2025, a 26-year-old Northwest, D.C., man was taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with an armed carjacking that occurred in the early morning hours in the Chinatown section of Northwest, D.C.
According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, on Friday, May 23, 2025, shortly after 1:30 a.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department responded to a report of a carjacking on the 800 Block of 7th Street in Northwest, D.C.
Police Officers Learn Victims Carjacked At Gunpoint
Upon arrival, Police Officers learned that the suspects approached the victims, who were seated in their vehicle. The suspects then pulled both victims out of the vehicle, assaulting both of them. One of the suspects struck both victims with a handgun and pointed the gun at the victims. The suspects then stole their money and fled in the victims’ vehicle.
Both victims sustained injuries during the confrontation. One was transported by DC Fire and Emergency Medical Service to a nearby hospital for treatment. The other victim sought medical treatment on their own.
Later in the day on Friday, D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s First District Officers located the stolen vehicle and multiple individuals in the 1700 Block of First Street in Northeast, D.C. Officers successfully stopped Devon Rogers, 26, of Northwest, D.C. Rogers was taken into custody and formally charged with Armed Carjacking.
Rogers was processed on the charges and was remanded to the D.C. Central Detention Facility, pending future court proceedings in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia.
