Bergen County Man Charged With Sexually Assaulting Teen

EDGEWATER, NJ.- Last Thursday, a 22-year-old Edgewater, New Jersey, man was taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with the alleged sexual assault of a teen.
According to Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella, on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, Detectives of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit were contacted by the Edgewater Police Department after the Department received a report regarding the months-long sexual assault of a child between the ages of thirteen and sixteen years old.
Detectives Determine Nunez Sexually Assaulted The Teen
During a swift-moving investigation, Detectives of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Edgewater Police Department determined that Deandre J. Nunez, 22, of Edgewater, New Jersey, committed sexual acts upon a child between the ages of 13 and 16 years old in Edgewater, New Jersey on multiple occasions beginning in November 2024 and lasting through May 2025.
Accordingly, on Thursday, May 22, 2025, Nunez was taken into custody in Edgewater, New Jersey, and formally charged with one count of second-degree Sexual Assault; and third-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
Nunez was processed on the charges and was remanded to the Bergen County Jail, pending future court proceedings in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack, New Jersey.
