Police Seeking Public’s Help In Locating Man Wanted In Fatal Shooting

JERSEY CITY, NJ.- On Wednesday, May 28, 2025, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez and Detectives of the Hundon County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit are asking for the public’s assistance in locating the suspect wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of a 39-year-old Elizabeth, New Jersey man that occurred during the afternoon hours of Saturday, May 3, 2025, in Jersey City, New Jersey.
Following an investigation, Gerard Rosario, 28, was formally charged with first-degree Murder; first-degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon; second-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; and second-degree Certain Persons Not to Possess Weapons.

The charges stem from an investigation that began on Saturday, May 3, 2025, when shortly after 4:00 p.m., members of the Jersey City Police Department responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in the area of Old Bergen Road and Merritt Street in the Greenville section of Jersey City.
Upon arrival, Police Officers discovered an unresponsive man, later identified as Devon Reid, 39, of Elizabeth, New Jersey, in the driver’s seat of a vehicle that had crashed into a tree on Merritt Street. Police Officers quickly discovered that Mr. Reid had sustained a gunshot wound to his neck.
Mr. Reid was immediately transported by Emergency Medical Services to Jersey City Medical Center, where, despite life-saving efforts, Mr. Reid succumbed to his injury and was pronounced deceased shortly after 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
