MEMPHIS, TN.- Last Thursday, a 48-year-old Memphis, Tennessee, man and Memphis Mob gang member learned he would be spending over the next sixteen years in federal prison for his leadership role in a North Memphis armed drug trafficking operation.
On Thursday, May 22, 2025, Jeffery “Bud B” Sevier, 48, of Memphis, Tennessee, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Tennessee and was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Mark S. Norris to 198 months in federal prison, to be followed by four years of supervised release for his conviction of Conspiring to Distribute a Controlled Substance, Cocaine.
According To The U.S. Attorney’s Office
According to Interim U.S. Attorney Joseph C. Murphy, Jr., and evidence presented at trial and during Thursday’s sentencing hearing, during an ongoing narcotics investigation into drug trafficking activities by members of the “Memphis Mob,” investigators identified a North Memphis residence from which illicit narcotics were being sold.
On March 4, 2019, someone allegedly stole narcotics from the home where narcotics were being sold, which led to shots being fired. A member of the Memphis Police Department responded to the scene and witnessed an individual with a gunshot wound to their head running from the house. Surveillance video from the house revealed Sevier at the location, with co-conspirators firing into a vehicle occupied by five people, including a child. One person was injured in the shooting but survived. Sevier was taken into custody at the scene and provided false information to the Police.
In addition, the surveillance video showed Memphis Mob members distributing illicit narcotics from the North Memphis house daily until the day of the shooting.
Sevier Convicted And Deemed As A Leader Of The Drug Trafficking Operation
In July 2022, Sevier was convicted of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute cocaine. During Thursday’s sentencing hearing, Judge Norris noted that Sevier was responsible for distributing around 4.5 kilograms of cocaine, holding a leadership position in the Memphis Mob, directing others to sell narcotics on the gang’s behalf, and maintaining control over the gang’s drug distribution house.
