Edison Man Charged In South Plainfield Double Stabbing, Killing One & Injuring Another

SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ.- On Thursday, May 29, 2025, following an investigation, a 46-year-old Edison, New Jersey, man was taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with allegedly stabbing two people, one fatally, that occurred during the early morning hours of May 19, 2025, in South Plainfield, New Jersey.
According to Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolando Ciccone, Pablo Cicero, 46, of Edison, New Jersey, has been formally charged with first-degree Murder; first-degree Attempted Murder; first-degree Home Invasion Burglary; two counts of third-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; and two counts of fourth-degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.
The charges stem from an investigation that began on Monday, May 19, 2025, when shortly before 2:00 a.m., members of the South Plainfield Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting a stabbing at a residence located on Tooz Place in the Borough of South Plainfield.
Police Officers Find Man And Woman Stabbed
Upon arrival, Police Officers discovered two victims, both having sustained multiple stab wounds. One of the victims, Brandon Andrews-Cruz, 38, of Raritan, New Jersey, had succumbed to his injuries and was subsequently pronounced deceased at the scene. The other victim, a 32-year-old South Plainfield, New Jersey, woman, was immediately transported to an area hospital where she was treated for her injuries and has been released, and continues to recover at home.
Detectives Identify Cicero As The Suspect
During the ensuing investigation, which was led by Detectives Javier Morillo and Ryan Kirsh of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office, developed information that led to Cicero being identified as the suspect and the individual responsible for the stabbing death of Mr. Andrews-Cruz and injuring the woman.
Accordingly, on Thursday, Cicero was taken into custody without incident and formally charged. Following being processed on the charges, Cicero was remanded to the Middlesex County Adult Correctional Center, pending future court proceedings in Middlesex County Superior Court in New Brunswick, New Jersey. The Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office has filed a motion with the court to detain Cicero pending trial.
