Police Charge Man For Shooting Two In Northeast D.C.

WASHINGTON, DC.- On Thursday, following an investigation, a 50-year-old Northeast, D.C., man was taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with shooting two men during the afternoon hours on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, in Northeast, D.C.

     According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, shortly before 2:00 p.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s Fifth District responded to multiple reports of gunfire and a shooting with injuries on the 1700 Block of Gales Place in Northeast, D.C.

Police Officers Find Two Men Shot

     Upon arrival, Police Officers located two men, both having sustained non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. Both men were transported by DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services to a nearby hospital for treatment. Both victims were subsequently released and continue to recover at home.

     During the ensuing investigation, and based on witness interviews and area video surveillance footage, Detectives were able to identify Antwan Buchanan, 50, of Northeast, D.C., as the shooter, and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Buchanan Apprehended By Police

     Accordingly, on Thursday, May 29, 2025, pursuant to a DC Superior Court warrant, Buchanan was located and taken into custody and charged with two counts of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon. Buchanan was processed on the charges and was remanded to the D.C. Central Detention Facility, pending future court proceedings in the Superior Court for the District of Columbia.
