Monday, June 2, 2025, 7:00 A.M. ET. 2 Minute Read, By Art Fletcher: Englebrook Independent News,

BOSTON, MA.- A 39-year-old Brazilian national illegally residing in Framingham, Massachusetts, will be potentially facing up to two years in federal prison after pleading guilty in Federal Court in Boston, Massachusetts, on Friday to illegally reentry into the U.S.

According to U.S. Attorney Leah B. Foley, on Friday, May 30, 2025, Rafael De Jesus-Ribeiro, 39, of Brazil, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts and pleaded guilty before U.S. District Court Judge Indira Talwani to one count of Illegal Reentry into the United States by a Previously Deported Alien.

Following entering his guilty plea, Judge Talwani accepted the plea and scheduled sentencing for June 9, 2025. At that time, De Jesus-Ribeiro faces up to two years in federal prison and a fine of up to $250,000. At sentencing, a U.S. District Court Judge will determine the term of imprisonment based on the seriousness of the offense and De Jesus-Ribeiro’s prior criminal history. Upon completion of any sentence imposed, De Jesus-Ribeiro will face immediate deportation proceedings and be removed from the United States.

According To Charging Documents

According to the charges unsealed in a February 2025 indictment, De Jesus-Ribeiro was removed from the United States on July 17, 2019, after illegally crossing the border in Texas and being stopped by Customs and Border Patrol agents, to whom he initially provided false information and documentation.

Sometime after his July 2019 removal, De Jesus-Ribeiro, on an unknown date and at an unknown location, illegally reentered the United States without obtaining permission or legal authorization, being found illegally residing in Massachusetts.
