Monday, June 2, 2025, 7:40 A.M. ET. 1 Minute Read, By Art Fletcher: Englebrook Independent News,

BURLINGTON, VT.- Acting U.S. Attorney Michael P. Drescher reported on Friday, May 30, 2025, that Yosselin Ibanez-Diaz, 28, of Guatemala, was charged by federal criminal complaint with Illegal Reentry into the United States by a Previously Deported Alien.

According to the charging information filed in the criminal complaint, Ibanez-Diaz was convicted in federal court in New Mexico in 2019 of illegally entering the United States. Following that conviction, she was subsequently removed from the United States.

Sometime after her 2019 removal, Ibanez-Diaz, at an unknown date and at an unknown location, illegally reentered the United States without obtaining permission or legal authorization to do so after being found unlawfully in the State of Vermont.

If Convicted Ibanez-Diaz Faces Up To Two Years In Prison

If convicted at trial, Ibanez-Diaz faces up to two years in federal prison and a fine of up to $250,000. Any sentence imposed upon a finding of guilt would be determined by a U.S. District Court Judge based on the seriousness of the offense and Ibanez-Diaz’s prior criminal history. Upon completion of any sentence imposed, Ibanez-Diaz will face immediate deportation proceedings and be removed from the United States.

“The rules of the court require us to include a statement that states: The charges outlined in this publication are merely accusations, and the defendant and or defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt.”
