Atlantic City Man Pleads Guilty To Gun Charge

Monday, June 2, 2025, 8:00 A.M. ET. 2 Minute Read, By Art Fletcher: Englebrook Independent News,

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ.- A 23-year-old Atlantic City, New Jersey, man will be facing spending five years in New Jersey State Prison after pleading guilty last Thursday to a state firearms offense.

According to Atlantic County Prosecutor William E. Reynolds, on Thursday, May 29, 2025, Devin Brown, 23, of Atlantic City, New Jersey, appeared in Atlantic County Superior Court and pleaded before Superior Court Judge Dorothy Incarvito-Garrabrant to second-degree Unlawful Possession of a Handgun. In return for the guilty plea, the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office will recommend that Brown be sentenced to five years in State Prison subject to a 42-month parole ineligibility.

Following entering his guilty plea last Thursday, Judge Incarvito-Garrabrant accepted the plea and scheduled Brown to be sentenced on July 11, 2025.

Guilty Plea Stems From A December 2024 Incident

The guilty plea stems from an incident that unfolded on December 14, 2024, when members of the Atlantic City Police Department were on routine patrol in the area of 1542 Atlantic Avenue when they noticed Brown, who was wanted on an unrelated warrant. Police Officers advised Brown that they wanted to talk with him.

Brown looked directly at the Police Officers, ignored their requests, and took off running. Police Officers ran after Brown and were able to apprehend him as he attempted to enter a New Jersey Transit bus.

During a brief struggle and during Brown’s arrest, Police Officers found a loaded Smith & Wesson .38-caliber handgun on his person.
