Egg Harbor Man Indicted On Charges In Fatal Crash

PLEASANTVILLE, NJ.- A 28-year-old Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey, man is facing up to 20 years in New Jersey State Prison after he was formally indicted on charges in connection with driving intoxicated and killing his passenger when he ran off the road and crashed his vehicle into a pole during the early morning hours of March 13, 2025, in Pleasantville, New Jersey.
According to Atlantic County Prosecutor William E. Reynolds, on Thursday, May 29, 2025, a Grand Jury sitting in Atlantic County, New Jersey, returned an indictment charging Jean Zambrano-Briones, 28, of Egg Harbor Township, with one count of second-degree Vehicular Homicide; and one count of second-degree Leaving the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Crash Resulting in Death.
If Convicted, Zambrano-Briones Could Be Sentenced To 20 Years
If convicted at trial, Zambrano-Briones faces on each count between five and ten years in New Jersey State Prison.
According To Charging Information
According to the charging information unsealed in the indictment, on March 13, 2025, at around 2:30 p.m., Gustavo Huestipa-Peralta, 38, also from Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey, was killed in which he was a passenger in struck a utility pole on the Black Horse Pike in Pleasantville, New Jersey. It is alleged that Zambrano-Briones, the driver of the vehicle, was intoxicated, which impaired his ability to operate the vehicle.
It is further alleged that following crashing his vehicle, Zambrano-Briones fled the scene on foot, leaving Mr. Huestipa-Peralta fatally injured in the car. Zambrano-Briones was later located by members of the Egg Harbor Township Police Department.
The case was investigated by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Fatal Crash Investigation Unit, in collaboration with the Pleasantville Police Department, with assistance from the Egg Harbor Township Police Department.
