WASHINGTON, DC.- U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro reported that on Wednesday, May 28, 2024, a D.C. Superior Court Grand Jury returned an indictment charging a 29-year-old Washington, D.C., woman in connection with the January 2025, D.C. Metro Bus robbery and stabbing incident.

On Wednesday, the indictment charged Tywanna Johnson, 29, of Washington, D.C., with Robbery While Armed; Assault with Intent to Rob While Armed; Assault with a Dangerous Weapon; Assault Causing Significant Bodily Injury While Armed; and Felony Threats.

The case has been scheduled for a status hearing on July 14, 2025, in the Superior Court for the District of Columbia before Superior Court Judge Robert Salerno.

According To Charging Information Unsealed In The Indictment

According to the charges unsealed in the indictment, it is alleged that on January 22, 2025, shortly around 11:30 p.m., Johnson was aboard D.C. Metro Bus #3303 in the area of 15th and Duncan Streets in Northeast, D.C., when she grabbed a cellular phone out of another passenger’s hands. The passenger was able to get his phone back, but Johnson pulled a knife out of her jacket pocket. With the knife in hand, Johnson demanded the passenger’s phone and threatened to kill the passenger if he did not comply with her demand.

The man then ran to the front of the bus to escape Johnson, at which time she lunged forward and stabbed the man in the lower back, causing a serious bodily injury. Johnson was taken into custody at the scene.
