Police Charge Man In September 2024 Fatal Stabbing Of Elderly Maryland Man

WASHINGTON, DC.- On Monday, a 40-year-old Southwest, D.C. man was taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with the stabbing death of a 70-year-old Upper Marlboro, Maryland, man that occurred last September in Southeast, D.C.

     According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, on Tuesday, September 10, 2025, shortly after 3:30 a.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting a vehicle crash on the 4600 Block of Livingston Road in Southeast, D.C.

Police Officers Find Elderly Maryland Man Dead On Street

     Upon arrival, Police Officers located an unoccupied vehicle on the sidewalk and an elderly man, later identified as Johnathan Reeves, 70, of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, lying in the road, having succumbed to multiple stab wounds. Mr. Reeves was subsequently pronounced deceased at the scene.

     During the ensuing investigation, Detectives were able to develop information leading to the identification of Jerry Thomas King, 40, of Southwest, D.C., as the individual responsible for the stabbing death of Mr. Reeves, and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

On Monday, Jerry Thomas King Apprehended On Murder

     On Monday, June 2, 2025, pursuant to the DC Superior Court warrant, members of the Capitol Area Regional Fugitive Task Force located and arrested King. Following being taken into custody, King was formally charged with second-degree Murder While Armed. King was processed on the charge and was remanded to the D.C. Central Detention Facility, pending future court proceedings in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia.
