Detroit Man Sentenced For West Virginia Federal Drug Crime

HUNTINGTON, W.VA.- On Thursday, June 5, 2025, Allen Lation Baird, 48, of Detroit, Michigan, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia and was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Robert C. Chambers to 66 months in federal prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release for his previously entered guilty plea to federal narcotics violations.

     Baird previously appeared in Federal Court in Huntington, West Virginia, and pleaded guilty to Possession with Intent to Distribute Controlled Substances, Fentanyl and Methamphetamine.

According To Court Documents

     According to Acting U.S. Attorney Lisa G. Johnston and charging documents filed with the District Court, on May 3, 2023, in Huntington, West Virginia, law enforcement Police Officers arrested Baird on an arrest warrant issued out of the State of Michigan. 

     During the arrest procedure, Police Officers searched Baird and found him in possession of around 56 grams of a substance containing fentanyl and approximately 14 grams of methamphetamine. During questioning, Baird told Police Officers he was taking the fentanyl and methamphetamine to someone else.

     Acting U.S. Attorney Johnston commended the investigative work of the Huntington Police Department and the Huntington Violent Crime and Drug Task Force, which led to the successful prosecution of Baird.
