Mount Holly Man Charged With Repeatedly Having Sex With Preteen Girl

MOUNT HOLLY, NJ.- On Tuesday, a 44-year-old Mount Holly, New Jersey, man and accused child predator is facing up to life in New Jersey State Prison after being taken into custody and charged in connection with allegedly carrying on a two-year sexual relationship with a preteen girl during which he showed the child pornographic material.
According to Burlington County Prosecutor LaChia L. Bradshaw, following being taken into custody on Tuesday. On Wednesday, June 4, 2025, Detectives formally charged Shawn R. Tracey, 44, of Mount Holly, New Jersey, with ten counts of first-degree Aggravated Sexual Assault; thirteen counts of second-degree Debauching the Morals of a Child; two counts of second-degree Sexual Assault; and one count of third-degree Showing Obscene Material to a Minor.
Tracey Is A Deacon A Local Church
Tracey, who is a deacon at Burlington Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Burlington City, New Jersey, was taken into custody on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office in Mount Holly, New Jersey. Following being formally processed on the filing of the criminal charges, Tracey was remanded to the Burlington County Jail, pending future court proceedings in Burlington County Superior Court.
Prosecutor’s Office Has Filed A Motion To Detain Tracey Pending Trial
The Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office has filed a motion with the court to have Tracey detained pending trial. Due to the nature of the alleged charges and the victim’s age, a Burlington County Superior Court Judge ordered that the criminal complaint be sealed.
The charges stem from an investigation that began earlier this week after law enforcement officials were notified of potential sexual abuse committed by Tracey against the child. During a swift-moving investigation and following interviewing witnesses, including the child victims, Detectives of the Burington County Prosecutor’s Office and the Mount Holly Township Police Department determined and found probable cause that Tracey had engaged in sexual intercourse with the child for two years at multiple locations throughout Burlington County, New Jersey.
If Convicted At Trial Tracey Faces Up To Life In Prison
If convicted at trial, Tracey faces on each of the first-degree counts a mandatory minimum of 25 years and up to life in New Jersey State Prison. On each of the second-degree counts, he faces between five years and ten years in prison, and on the third-degree count, Tracey faces between three and five years in prison.
