Memphis Gang Member Found Guilty For Role In 2019 Gang-Related Murder

Saturday, June 7, 2025, 3:00 P.M. ET. 3 Minute Read, By Art Fletcher: Englebrook Independent News,

MEMPHIS, TN.- On Friday, June 6, 2025, following a week-long trial, a federal jury for the Western District of Tennessee found Vincent Grant, also known as “V-Slash,” 41, of Memphis, Tennessee, a known high-ranking member of the Unknown Vice Lords violent street gang, guilty for his role in the 2019, gang-related shooting death of a fellow gang member.

According to U.S. Attorney Joseph C. Murphy and evidence presented at trial, Grant, a high-ranking member of the Unknown Vice Lords, also known as “The Ghost Mob,” a criminal enterprise that controlled territory throughout the City of Memphis, Tennessee, and beyond, including Arkansas and Mississippi.

Members of the Unknown Vice Lords were responsible for committing murders, burglaries, assaults, human trafficking, and drug trafficking on behalf of the enterprise. When the gang’s Supreme Elite Chief, the leader for the entire State of Tennessee, was fatally gunned down, the gang sought retaliation against anyone thought to be involved in the murder.

Evidence Presented At Trial

As proven beyond a reasonable doubt, on January 10, 2019, the gang’s Supreme Elite Chief and his girlfriend were fatally gunned down in a residential neighborhood in Memphis, Tennessee, in broad daylight. The gang sought to carry out a retaliatory strike that same night against members of a rival street gang, the Traveling Vice Lords, whom they initially believed to have been responsible.

Multiple Unknown Vice Lord members drove to a known Traveling Vice Lord’s hangout and engaged in a gun battle with the other gang. During the next few days, Unknown Vice Lord gang members conducted their own internal investigation and were informed that a fellow gang member was thought to be responsible for their Chief’s and his girlfriend’s murders.

Five Days Later, Grant, With Other Member,s Commit Murder

Just five days later after the Chief was murdered, on January 15, 2019, the fellow gang member implicated in the Chief’s murder and the victim in this trial was murdered by Grant and other Unknown Vice Lord members. The day before, on January 14, 2019, Grant, as the keeper of guns for the gang, supplied firearms to multiple gang members for the purpose of going “demo,” a term the gang used for committing violent acts.

Then, early the next morning, at around 1:00 a.m., on January 15th, Grant and three other gang members drove the unaware victim to an apartment complex, where two of them executed the victim with the guns supplied by Grant.

Grant Faces Up To Life In Federal Prison

On Friday, after deliberating for less than an hour, the jury convicted Grant of Causing Death by Use of a Firearm During a Crime of Violence, Being in the Aid of Racketeering. Sentencing has been scheduled for September 19, 2025. At that time, Grant faces up to life in federal prison.
