Honduran Man Illegally In West Virginia Sentenced To Federal Prison

HUNTINGTON, W.VA.- A 36-year-old Honduran national, illegally residing in the Southern District of West Virginia, found out that he will now be turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement after pleading guilty and being sentenced for being illegally in the United States.
According to Acting U.S. Attorney Lisa G. Johnston, on Thursday, June 5, 2025, Wilson Geovanny Nunez, also known as “Wilson Nunez,” 36, of Honduras, illegally residing in the Hurricane, West Virginia, area, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia and pleaded guilty before U.S. District Court Judge Robert C. Chambers to one count of Illegal Reentry into the United States by a Previously Deported Alien.
Following Entering Guilty Plea Judge Chambers Sentences Nunez
Following entering his guilty plea, Judge Chambers accepted the plea and immediately sentenced Nunez to seven months in federal prison. Nunez, who has remained in custody since his arrest on December 29, 2024, will, upon completion of his federal term of imprisonment, be transferred to the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials so that he can be removed from the United States.
Nenez Has Six Prior Deportations
According to the charging documents filed with the District Court, on December 29, 2024, Nunez was taken into custody by Law Enforcement Officers following a traffic stop in Hurricane, West Virginia. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents confirmed that Nunez was a citizen of Honduras, illegally in the United States, and had been previously deported on six different occasions. When stopped, Nunez had no identification documents permitting him legal authorization or status to be in the United States.
According to Immigration records, Nunez was removed from the United States to Honduras on the following dates: February 28, 2014; June 9, 2014; July 5, 2018; April 8, 2020; November 8, 2020; and June 2, 2021. Nunez was previously convicted of the felony offense of illegal reentry into the United States by a previously deported alien in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia on April 14, 2021.
