Police Charge Northeast D.C. Man For Early Saturday Morning Shooting

WASHINGTON, DC.- On Saturday, June 7, 2025, a 30-year-old Northeast, D.C., man was taken into custody and jailed after being charged with an alleged shooting that occurred during the early morning hours on Saturday, June 7, 2025, in Northwest, D.C.
According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, on Saturday, June 7, 2025, just minutes after 4:00 a.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s Third District responded to sounds of gunfire in the area of 10th and U Streets in Northwest, D.C.
Police Find Man Suffering From Gunshot Wound
Upon arrival, Police Officers located a man suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. The man was immediately transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. The man’s condition is unknown at this time,
While canvassing the area, Police Officers quickly located a suspect, identified as Delonte Brown, 30, of Northeast, D.C. Brown was taken into custody, and during the arrest procedure, he was in possession of an unregistered firearm. Following being taken into custody, Brown was charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon; and Carrying a Handgun Without a License.
Brown was processed on the charges and was remanded to the D.C. Central Detention Facility, pending future court proceedings in the Superior Court for the District of Columbia.
