TOMS RIVER, NJ.- On Friday, June 6, 2025, following an investigation, a 57-year-old Toms River, New Jersey, man was taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with a stabbing incident that occurred late Thursday night in the Ortley Beach section of Toms River Township, New Jersey.

According to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer, Patrick Robertelli has been formally charged with first-degree Attempted Murder; second-degree Aggravated Assault; third-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; fourth-degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon; Harassment; and Stalking.

Charges Stem From A Thursday Night Incident

The charges stem from an incident that unfolded on Thursday, June 5, 2025, when shortly around 10:45 p.m., members of the Toms River Township Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting a disturbance at a residence located on Harding Avenue in the Ortley Beach section of the Township.

Upon arrival, Police Officers found Robertelli and a 52-year-old man involved in a physical altercation outside the home. As Police Officers quickly separated the two, they discovered that the 52-year-old man had been stabbed multiple times. The man was immediately transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center for treatment and, as of Friday evening, was listed in critical but stable condition.

During the ensuing investigation, Responding Police Officers and Detectives of the Toms River Township Police Department determined that Robertelli traveled to the man’s residence to confront him and a woman who was also present at the home. When Robertelli arrived, the two men became involved in a physical altercation, resulting in Robertelli stabbing the man multiple times.

Further investigation uncovered that Robertelli had sent multiple threatening text messages to the woman. Following the investigation, Robertelli was taken into custody without incident and formally charged. Following being processed on the charges, he was remanded to the Ocean County Jail, pending future court proceedings in Ocean County Superior Court in Toms River, New Jersey.
