NEW HAVEN, CT.- A 30-year-old Newington, Connecticut, man will be spending the next six years in federal prison after being sentenced on Wednesday for distributing narcotics throughout Newington, Connecticut.

According to U.S. Attorney David X. Sullivan, on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, Martin Delgado, 30, of Newington, Connecticut, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut and was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Victor A. Bolden to 72 months in federal prison, to be followed four years of supervised release for his previously entered guilty plea to federal narcotics offenses.

Delgado, who has been detained in custody since his federal arrest, appeared in Federal Court in New Haven, Connecticut, on February 11, 2025, and pleaded guilty to Possession with Intent to Distribute 40 Grams or More of Fentanyl; and Possession with Intent to Distribute a Quantity of Cocaine.

According To Court Documents

According to charging documents filed with the District Court, on May 13, 2024, during an ongoing investigation into the distribution of illicit narcotics, Agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation Gang Task Force obtained and executed a court-authorized search warrant at Delgado’s residence on Main Street in Newington, Connecticut.

During the search, Agents, and Investigators located and seized around 2,500 single-dose wax folds of fentanyl, 160 grams of loose fentanyl, around 21 grams of cocaine, drug packaging items, and a loaded 9mm gun magazine.

Delgado, who fled on foot when Agents and Investigators were arriving at his residence, was apprehended a short time later in West Hartford, Connecticut. In addition, Investigators located and seized a loaded 9mm handgun near Delgado’s home that he tossed as he was fleeing from Agents and additional quantities of fentanyl and cocaine from Delgato’s vehicle.

A subsequent records check of the handgun recovered by law enforcement uncovered that the firearm had been reported stolen in 2019.
