Woodcliff Lake Man Charged With Physically Abusing A Child

WOODCLIFF LAKE, NJ.- On Thursday, June 12, 2025, following an investigation, a 32-year-old Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey, man was taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with the alleged physical abuse of a child.

     According to Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella, on Thursday, June 12, 2025, a case worker from the New Jersey Divison of Child Protection and Permanency contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit regarding an allegation of child abuse that had occurred in Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey.

Investigation Uncovers Physical Abuse

     During a swift-moving investigation and following interviewing witnesses, including the child victim. Detectives of the Bergen County Special Victims Unit and the Woodcliff Lake Police Department determined that Jose Pinzon Lopez, 32, of Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey, physically abused the child in Woodcliff Lake on Wednesday, June 11, 2025.

Child Abuse Charges Filed

     Accordingly, on Thursday, Pinzon Lopez was taken into custody in Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey, and formally charged with one count of second-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child; and fourth-degree Abuse and Neglect of a Minor.

     Pinzon Lopez was processed on the charges and was remanded to the Bergen County Jail, pending future court proceedings in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack, New Jersey.

“The rules of the court require us to include a statement that states: The charges outlined in this publication are merely accusations, and the defendant and or defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt.”
