Millville Man Sentenced To State Prison For Gun Charge

MILLVILLE, NJ.- On Friday, June 13, 2025, Terrell R. Cornish, 38, of Millville, New Jersey, appeared in Camden County Superior Court and was sentenced by Superior Court Judge Niki Arbitter to 10 years in New Jersey State Prison on his previously entered guilty plea to a first-degree gun charge.
In handing down the sentence on Friday, Judge Arbitter ordered the sentence to be subject to the Graves Act, which will require Cornish to serve five years of his custodial term before becoming eligible for parole, in accordance with the sentencing requirements for a first-degree offense.

   According to Cumberland County Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae, on July 23, 2021, members of the Millville Police Department observed Cornish traveling at a high rate of speed on North 5th Street, then abruptly turning onto East Vine Street in the City of Millville. Cornish failed to come to a complete stop at a stop sign at the intersection of North 4th Street in the City of Millville.Â
   Following the observation of Cornish running the stop sign, Police Officers conduct a traffic stop. During a subsequent plain view search of Cornish’s vehicle, Police Officers located and seized a 9mm semi-automatic handgun. At that time, Cornish was taken into custody and charged with the offense. On February 14, 2025, Cornish appeared in Cumberland County Superior Court and pleaded guilty before Judge Arbitter to one count of first-degree Unlawful Possession of Weapon.
