Convicted Child Predator Sentenced For Child Pornography Offenses

PATERSON, NJ.- On Friday, a 25-year-old Paterson, New Jersey, man learned he would be spending the next six years in New Jersey State Prison after being sentenced for distributing and possessing video files depicting the sexual exploitation and abuse of children.

     According to Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes, on April 4, 2023, the Passaic County Sheriff’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force received a CyberTip regarding an individual in the Paterson, New Jersey, area who was utilizing a Google account had uploaded 15 video files of child pornography between June 22, 2022, and July 18, 2022.

Passaic County Sheriff’s Investigators Identify LaTorre

     During the ensuing investigation, Sheriff’s Investigators uncovered an additional 18 video files had been uploaded. Further investigation identified Renato C. LaTorre, 25, of Paterson, New Jersey, as the owner of the Google account. Based on the investigation, Investigators determined that a total of 33 video files were uploaded to the Google account. On April 4, 2023, at around 10:00 a.m., Investigators of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force arrested LaTorre at his Paterson, New Jersey residence and formally charged him.

     Following a trial that began on March 13, 2025, in Passaic County Superior Court before Superior Court Judge Barbara J. Buono Stanton. On March 26, 2025, a jury found LaTorre guilty of second-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child for Distribution of Child Pornography; and third-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child for Possession of Child Pornography.

LaTorre Sentenced On Friday To State Prison

     On Friday, June 13, 2025, LaTorre appeared in Passaic County Superior Court and was sentenced by Judge Buono Stanton to 6 years in State Prison. Judge Buono Stanton ordered LaTorre to serve five years of his custodial term before becoming eligible for parole. In addition to the prison term, LaTorre will be subject to parole supervision for life and will be required to register as a sex offender pursuant to Megan’s Law registration requirements.
