Police Charge Man In Late Friday Afternoon Glover Park Shooting

WASHINGTON, DC.- On Friday, June 13, 2025, a 39-year-old Northwest, D.C., man was taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with a shooting that occurred late Friday afternoon in the Glover Park neighborhood of Northwest, D.C.

     According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, on Friday, June 13, 2025, just shortly after 5:00 p.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s Second District responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting a shooting at a residential residence on the 2300 Block of 37th Street in the Glover Park neighborhood in Northwest, D.C.

Police Find Man Shot And Identify Suspect

     Upon arrival, Police Officers located a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The man was immediately transported by DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services to a nearby hospital for treatment of his injuries. The man’s condition is currently unknown. 

     During the initial investigation, Responding Police Officers were able to locate area video footage revealing the suspect and the suspect’s vehicle fleeing the scene, and a description was put out to area police units.

     A short time later, the suspect, identified as Lorenzo Belton, 39, of Northwest, D.C., was located by members of the United States Secret Service Uniformed Division and was taken into custody. Following being arrested, D.C. Metropolitan Police Offices charged Belton with one count of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon.

     Belton was processed on the charge and was remanded to the D.C. Central Detention Facility, pending future court proceedings in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia.
