Huntington Drug Peddler Sentenced For Narcotics Distribution

HUNTINGTON, W.VA.- A 36-year-old local Huntington, West Virginia, drug dealer will be spending over the next eight years in federal prison after being sentenced yesterday to distributing methamphetamine and fentanyl in the Huntington, West Virginia area.
According to Acting U.S. Attorney Lisa G. Johnston, on Monday, June 16, 2025, Curtis Lavall Capers, 36, of Huntington, West Virginia, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia and was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Robert C. Chambers to 105 months in federal prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release after pleading guilty to Distribution of Controlled Substances, Fentanyl and Methamphetamine.
Capers Admits Selling Drugs To Informant
According to the charging documents filed with the District Court, on December 15, 2022, during a narcotics investigation into the distribution of illicit narcotics in the Huntington area, Capers sold quantities of fentanyl and methamphetamine to a confidential informant at a 7th Avenue residence in Huntington, West Virginia, during a controlled buy under the observation of federal law enforcement investigators.
During his earlier plea allocution, Capers admitted in court to selling the methamphetamine and fentanyl to the confidential informant and arranging the transaction beforehand.

Acting U.S. Attorney Johnston commended the investigative work of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, which led to the successful prosecution of Capers.
