Hudson County Homicide Unit Investigating Jersey City Beating Death

JERSEY CITY, NJ.- On Tuesday, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez reported that Detectives of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Jersey City Police Department are investigating the beating death of a 91-year-old Jersey City, New Jersey, man who succumbed to injuries on Saturday, after he was found last Monday unconscious inside his Jersey City residence.

     According to the Prosecutor’s Office, on Monday, June 9, 2025, members of the Jersey City Police Department responded to a request for a welfare check of an individual residing at 2554 Kennedy Boulevard in Jersey City.

Police Officers Find Elderly Man

     Upon arrival, Police Officers made entry into the residence where they found a man, later identified as An Quan, 91, of Jersey City, in medical distress from apparent trauma. Mr. Quan was immediately transported to Jersey City Medical Center for treatment, where on Saturday, June 14, 2025, Mr. Quan tragically succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.

     The Regional Medical Examiner’s Office performed an autopsy, and on Monday, June 16, 2025, determined the Cause of Death to be Complications Associated with Blunt Force Trauma and the Manner of Death to be Homicide.
