Police Charge Man In December 2024 Northeast D.C. Shooting

WASHINGTON, DC.- On Monday, following an investigation, a 22-year-old Southeast, D.C., man was taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with a shooting that occurred late last year, in Northeast, D.C.

     According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, on Monday, December 16, 2024, shortly after 1:30 p.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s Fifth District responded to a report of a shooting on the 1500 Block of Benning Road in Northeast, D.C.

     Upon arrival, Police Officers found a man suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. The man was immediately transported by DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services to a nearby hospital for treatment and has since recovered from his injury.

Detectives Identify Robinson As The Suspect

     During the ensuing investigation, Detectives were able to identify Kyre Robinson, 22, of Southeast, D.C., as the shooter, and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

     On Monday, June 16, 2025, pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant, members of the Capitol Area Regional Fugitive Task Force located and arrested Robinson. Following being taken into custody, Robinson was formally charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon. After being processed on the charge, Robinson was remanded to the DC Central Detention Facility, pending future court proceedings in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia.
