Huntington Crack Dealer Pleads Guilty To Federal Narcotics Violations

HUNTINGTON, W.VA.- A 27-year-old Huntington, West Virginia, woman, and local drug peddler will be facing up to 20 years in federal prison when sentenced after pleading guilty on Monday to distributing crack cocaine and fentanyl in Huntington, West Virginia.

     According to Acting U.S. Attorney Lisa G. Johnston, on Monday, June 16, 2025, Mikayla Lanay Johnson, 27, of Huntington, West Virginia, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia and pleaded guilty before U.S. District Court Judge Robert C. Chambers to Distribution of Controlled Substances, Crack Cocaine, and Fentanyl.

     According to the charging information filed in the District Court, during an investigation into narcotics distribution within the Southern District of West Virginia, Johnson was identified as a drug dealer. On March 11, 2024, Johnson sold four grams of crack cocaine and 4.5 grams of fentanyl to a confidential informant during a controlled buy under the observation of law enforcement investigators.

Johnson Admits To Selling Drugs To Informant

     During her plea allocution on Monday, Johnson admitted to selling the crack cocaine and fentanyl to the confidential informant, to arranging the sale beforehand and selling the controlled substances from her Huntington, West Virginia home.

     Following entering her guilty plea, Judge Chambers accepted the plea and scheduled sentencing for September 22, 2025. At that time, Johnson faces a mandatory minimum of ten years and up to 20 years in federal prison, at least three years of supervised release, and a $1 million fine. When sentenced, a U.S. District Court Judge will determine the term of imprisonment based on the seriousness of the offense and Johnson’s prior criminal history, if any.
