Waldorf Man Pleads Guilty To Murdering His Girlfriend’s Husband

WASHINGTON, DC.- A 28-year-old Waldorf, Maryland, man, when sentenced, will be facing 16 years in prison after pleading guilty on Friday in connection with the shooting death of his girlfriend’s husband that occurred in December 2022, inside their Southeast, D.C. home.
According to U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro, on Friday, June 20, 2025, Keyon Slaughter, 28, of Waldorf, Maryland, appeared in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia and pleaded guilty before Superior Court Judge Danya Dayson to second-degree Murder While Armed. In return for the guilty plea, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia will recommend that Slaughter be sentenced to 16 years in prison, to be followed by five years of supervised release.
Following entering his guilty plea, Judge Dayson scheduled sentencing for August 29, 2025. If the Court accepts the guilty plea, Slaughter will be sentenced in accordance with the terms of the negotiated plea agreement.
According To The Charging Documents Filed With The Court
According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith and the charging information filed with the Superior Court, on December 5, 2022, at around 10:15 a.m., Slaughter entered Apartment 3 at 3224 E Street in Southeast, Washington, D.C., the residence belonging to Dana Bailey, Jr. Once inside the apartment, Slaughter confronted Mr. Bailey and shot him once in the chest with a .40-caliber handgun, causing his death. Following the shooting death, Slaughter fled the apartment and soon thereafter fled the District of Columbia to North Carolina.
Slaughter Was Involved In A Relationship With Bailey’s Wife
At the time of the shooting death, Slaughter was engaged in a romantic relationship with Mr. Bailey’s wife, who was indicted with Slaughter and has pleaded guilty to obstructing justice.
At the time of the murder, Slaughter was on supervised probation for a 2019 conviction for armed robbery in Charles County, Maryland. Slaughter was arrested for Mr. Bailey’s murder in July 2023 and has remained in custody since that date.
