Flemington Man Sentenced For Attempting To Sexually Assault A Child

FLEMINGTON, NJ.- A 54-year-old Flemington, New Jersey, man will be spending the next decade in New Jersey State Prison after being sentenced last Friday for his previously entered guilty plea to the crimes of attempting to sexually assault a minor last summer at his Flemington, New Jersey, residence, and possessing digital images and video files of child pornography.

     According to Hunterdon County Prosecutor Renee Robeson, on Friday, June 13, 2025, Daniel E. White, 54, of Flemington, New Jersey, appeared in Hunterdon County Superior Court and was sentenced by Superior Court Judge Christopher J. Garrenger to 10 years in State Prison, subject to the No Early Release Act, which will require White to serve 85% of his custodial term before becoming eligible for parole.

     In handing down the sentence, Judge Garrenger additionally ordered White, upon his release from prison, to be subject to parole supervision for life and register as a sex offender under Megan’s Law registration requirements. 

Investigation Uncovers Child Sex Crimes

     The sentence stems from a joint investigation by the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office and the Flemington Police Department that began on June 20, 2024, when members of the Flemington Police Department responded to White’s residence after receiving a report of the attempted sexual assault of a child. 

     Upon arrival, Police Officers encountered White, who openly admitted that he attempted to sexually assault the child on numerous occasions at his home. During the ensuing investigation and questioning by Detectives, White further admitted to possessing digital images and video files depicting the sexual exploitation and abuse of children. At which time White was taken into custody and formally charged.

White Pleads Guilty To Charges In February 2025

     On February 26, 2025, White appeared in Hunterdon County Superior Court and pleaded guilty before Judge Garrenger to second-degree Attempted Sexual Assault; and third-degree Possession of Child Pornography.

     Prosecutor Robeson commended the sentence imposed by the Court. “As our courts have recognized, crimes involving the sexual exploitation of children have a devastating impact and create serious consequences for the victims. Child pornography, in particular, revictimizes the children involved with each viewing of the same image or video.”
