Union City Man Charged With Sexually Assaulting A Young Child

UNION CITY, NJ.- On Friday, following an investigation, Detectives of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit and the United States Marshals Service New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force apprehended a 66-year-old Union City, New Jersey, man wanted for the alleged sexual assault of a 10-year-old girl.
According to Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez, Francisco Ruiz, 66, of Union City, New Jersey, has been formally charged with second-degree Sexual Assault; first-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child; second-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child; third-degree Terroristic Threats; and third-degree Criminal Restraint.
Ruiz Taken Into Custody Hiding In Bayonne, New Jersey
Ruiz was taken into custody at a residence on Avenue C in Bayonne, New Jersey. He was processed on the charges and was remanded to the Hudson County Correctional Facility, pending future court proceedings in Hudson County Superior Court in Jersey City, New Jersey.
The charges stem from an investigation that began after a 10-year-old girl came forward reporting that Ruiz, a family friend, had sexually assaulted her last month inside his Union City residence. Following sexually assaulting the child, Ruiz allegedly terrorized the child by threatening her not to tell family members or report the sex crimes.
