WASHINGTON, DC.- On Monday, a 20-year-old Southeast, D.C., man was taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with gunning down two men, one fatally, early last month in Southeast, D.C.

According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, just shortly after 5:00 p.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s Sixth District responded to 911 Emergency Calls reporting a shooting on the 4500 Block of Benning Road in Southeast, D.C.

One of the men, later identified as Jacquise Zanders, 21, of Southeast, D.C., succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The other man was immediately transported by D.C.
