Rollin’ 60s Neighborhood Crips Gang Member Sentenced For Racketeering

NEWARK, NJ.- A 41-year-old former Irvington, New Jersey, man, and a known leader of the Rollin’ 60s Neighborhood Crips gang will be spending the nearly the next three decades in federal prison after being sentenced on Monday in Federal Court in Newark, New Jersey, for his role in a gang related racketeering conspiracy.
According to U.S. Attorney Alina Habba, on Monday, June 23, 2025, Jason Franklin, also known as “Freak” and “Franklin,” 41, formerly of Irvington, New Jersey, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey and was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Susan D. Wigenton to 336 months in federal prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release for his previously entered guilty plea to criminal gang activity.
Franklin Previously Pleads Guilty To Racketeering
Franklin previously appeared in Federal Court in Newark, New Jersey, and pleaded guilty before Judge Wigenton to a superseding indictment charging him with Racketeer Influence Corrupt Organizations Act Conspiracy.
According to the charging unsealed in the indictment and filed with the District Court, beginning in and around 2015 and lasting through September 2022, Franklin was a member of the Rollin’ 60s Neighborhood Crips, a criminal enterprise responsible for acts of violence and the coordinated distribution of illicit narcotics in the District of New Jersey, specifically the Essex County, New Jersey, area.
Franklin Held A Leadership Position In The Gang
Franklin held and maintained a leadership role within the criminal enterprise and handed down orders to other members and associates of the enterprise to commit multiple acts of violence.
Specifically, around March 20, 2019, in Irvington, New Jersey, Franklin ordered other members and associates of the enterprise to murder another person in retaliation for the murder of a member and associate of the Rollin’ 60s.
   In early April 2021, Franklin ordered other members and associates of the criminal enterprise to retaliate against rival gang members, resulting in the April 5, 2021, attempted murder of another person, who sustained serious bodily injuries as a result of being shot.Â
