Police Charge Two Teens In Tuesday Night Northwest Strongarm Carjacking

WASHINGTON, DC.- On Tuesday, June 24, 2025, a 13-year-old Southeast, D.C., boy and a 16-year-old Northwest, D.C., boy were taken into custody and charged in connection with a Northwest strongarm carjacking.

     According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, just shortly after 8:30 p.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s Third District responded to a report of a carjacking on the 1200 Block of U Street in Northwest, D.C.

Police Officers Learn That Suspects Stole His Motorcycle By Force

     Upon arrival, Police Officers located a victim who reported that they were approached by two teenage boys, who stole their money and keys before fleeing the scene on the victim’s motorcycle.

     During the initial investigation, Investigators from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Real-Time Crime Center were able to recover video footage of the teenage suspects and the direction of their flight, and provided a description and location of the suspects. 

     A short time later, Police Officers located the stolen motorcycle and apprehended the two teenage suspects. Accordingly, both boys were taken into custody, and each was charged as a juvenile with one count of Carjacking. The teens were processed on the charges and were released to their guardians pending future court proceedings in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia Family Law Division.

“The rules of the court require us to include a statement that states: The charges outlined in this publication are merely accusations, and the defendant and or defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt.”
