Ocean County Man Charged With Critically Injuring His Elderly Mother

MANCHESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ.- On Friday, a 44-year-old Manchester Township, New Jersey, man was taken into custody and charged with attempted murder in connection with the alleged brutal beating of his elderly mother, Friday afternoon inside their Pine Acres Mobile home.
According to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer, Joseph Cavallaro, 44, of Manchester Township, New Jersey, was formally charged with first-degree Attempted Murder; second-degree Aggravated Assault; Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.
   The charges stem from an incident that began on Friday, June 27, 2025, when, at approximately 12:15 p.m., members of the Manchester Township Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting a woman in distress at a mobile home located in Pine Acres Manor Mobile Home Community in the Township.
Police Officers Find Elderly Woman Beaten
Upon arrival, Police Officers discovered a 71-year-old woman, having sustained serious injuries to her face and body. The woman was immediately transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, New Jersey, where she remains listed in critical but stable condition.
Initial Investigation Determines Cavallaro Beat His Mother
During the initial investigation, Police Officers determined that the victim was Cavallaro’s mother and that Cavallaro had assaulted his mother and beaten her with a cane. Cavallaro was taken into custody at the scene, but experienced a medical episode and was transported to Community Medical Center in Toms River, New Jersey, where he remains in Police custody and is listed in stable condition.
Upon his release from the hospital, Cavallaro will be transported to the Ocean County Jail, where he will be processed on the charges and detained pending future court proceedings in Ocean County Superior Court in Toms River, New Jersey.
