EGG HARBOR, NJ.- A 32-year-old Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey, man will be spending the next fifteen years in state prison after being sentenced last Monday for operating a marijuana production facility out of his Egg Harbor Township townhouse last summer.

According to Atlantic County Prosecutor William E. Reynolds, on Monday, June 23, 2025, Victor Matias, 32, of Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey, appeared in Atlantic County Superior Court and was sentenced to 15 years in New Jersey State Prison, with five years of parole ineligibility for his previously entered guilty plea.

Matias Previously Pleads Guilty To The Charges

Matias previously appeared in Atlantic County Superior Court and pleaded guilty to first-degree Maintaining a Narcotics Production Facility; second-degree Possession of a Firearm While Committing a Controlled Dangerous Substance Offense; two counts of second-degree Certain Persons Not to Possess Firearms; and fourth-degree Unlawful Sale of a Firearm.

The guilty plea and sentence stem from an investigation that was conducted by members of the Egg Harbor Township Police Department. During the investigation, Detectives learned that Matias, a convicted felon, illegally sold a handgun to another man and converted his townhouse apartment located at 39 Cambridge Drive in Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey, into a sophisticated and unlicensed marijuana manufacturing facility.

Investigators Execute A Search Warrant At The Townhouse

Matias was taken into custody at the townhouse on July 2, 2024, during the execution of a court-authorized search warrant. During the search, Detectives found Matias in possession of a stolen handgun and multiple large capacity ammunition magazines.

In addition to the term of imprisonment, Matias was also ordered to pay restitution for the significant damage he caused by converting the Cambridge Drive townhouse apartment into a marijuana production facility.
