WEST HAVEN, CT.-Last Thursday, a 29-year-old West Haven, Connecticut, man was taken into custody and charged in connection with allegedly sexually abusing a toddler, video recording the abuse, and distributing the videos over an online instant messaging application.
On Thursday, June 26, 2025, Carlos Inesti, 29, of West Haven, Connecticut, was taken into custody and charged by federal criminal complaint with one count of Sexual Exploitation of Minors; and one count of Distribution of Child Pornography.
According To Information Unsealed In The Indictment
According to the charging information filed in the criminal complaint, in April 2025, following an online child pornography investigation, the Federal Bureau of Investigation arrested an individual in Utah for possession of child pornography. During a subsequent forensic analysis of the individual’s cellular phone, which was seized during the execution of a court-authorized search warrant, uncovered video files of a man, later identified as Inesti, engaging in sexually explicit conduct with a toddler-aged girl.
Further investigation determined that Inesti had video recorded the alleged abuse and shared the video files over the online instant messaging application Telegram.
After being processed on the charges on Thursday, Inesti made his initial appearance before U.S. Magistrate Judge Maria E. Garcia in Federal Court in New Haven, Connecticut, and was released on a $100,000 bond into home detention with electronic monitoring. Judge Garcia ordered Inesti to have no contact with children and to have no internet access.
If convicted at trial, Inesti on the charge of sexual exploitation of minors faces a mandatory minimum of 15 years, and up to 30 years in federal prison. On the charge of distribution of child pornography, Inesti faces a mandatory minimum of five years and up to 20 years in federal prison. At sentencing, upon a finding of guilt, a U.S. District Court Judge would determine the term of imprisonment based on the seriousness of the offenses and Inesti’s prior criminal history, if any.
