Barnstable Man Sentenced For Distributing Counterfeit Adderall Pills

BOSTON, MA.- A 45-year-old Barnstable, Massachusetts, man, and a counterfeit pill distributor, will be spending the next two-and-a-half years in federal prison, after being sentenced on Monday, after pleading guilty last July to multiple federal narcotics charges.

     According to U.S. Attorney Leah B. Foley, on Monday, June 30, 2025, John Kirk Costello, 45, originally from Milton, Massachusetts, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts and was sentenced by Senior District Court Judge William G. Young to 30 months in federal prison, to be followed by four years of supervised release. 

Costello Pleads Guilty Last July To Narcotics Violations

     On July 11, 2024, Costello appeared in Federal Court and pleaded guilty to one count of Distribution of Methamphetamine; one count of Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine; and one count of Possession with Intent to Distribute Fentanyl.

     On January 13, 2021, during an ongoing narcotics investigation, Costello sold around 1,000 counterfeit Adderall pills to an undercover federal Agent. The pills were illegally manufactured and laced with the controlled substance, methamphetamine. In November 2021, Agents and Investigators executed a court-authorized search warrant at Costello’s home.

     During the search, Agents and Investigators located and seized around 264 grams of 95% pure methamphetamine, around 7 kilograms of 7% pure methamphetamine, around 2,472 counterfeit Adderall pills laced with methamphetamine, and around 1,707 counterfeit Percocet pills laced with fentanyl.

     U.S. Attorney Foley commended the investigative work of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Investigations, which led to the successful prosecution of Costello.
